Dysfunctional families have been a favorite subject of TV sitcoms for years. But not all have met success on primetime TV. This is not the case for “Modern Family”, which after many years, has brought TV sitcom in primetime.
“Modern Family” tells the story of not one family but three families. These families are very different from each other and live an interesting but pretty realistic lives. One family is that of the gay couple Mitchell and Cameron who have chosen to adopt an Asian baby. Their daughter is named Lily. Another family comprises of a 70 year old man named Jay, his 30 year old voluptuous Columbian wife named Gloria and their ten year old son Manny. And the last family is the much more standard type of family consisting of a father, mother and kids. The parents are Phil and Clair while the kids are Haley, Alex and Luke. And did I mention that they are all related in some way or another.
The sitcom, “Modern Family”, explores the different types of family in these modern times documentary style. A Dutch documentary crew has chosen to follow the lives of these families which they intend to include in their reality based show set to air in Netherlands. As the crew “tapes” the everyday lives of this family, the viewers are treated with hilarious yet quite realistic situations that anyone belonging in a family can relate to. It gets even funnier when the family’s lives intersect with each other. “Modern Family” is certainly not run of the mill TV sitcom where it only aim to get viewers laughing their heart out. There are moral lessons to learn, too
The show premiered September 23, 2009. The cast includes Sarah Hyland as Haley Dunphy, Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Mitchell Pritchett, Sofia Vergara as Glorai Delgado-Pritchett and Ty Burrell as Phil Dunphy. The show was created by Steven Levitan.

This episode of the show was titled “Disneyland‘ and the family went vacationing in the happiest place in the world. Manny did not want to go as he wanted to see that he won the stock market project. But they l went and had a relatively good time. The episode must have been fun to shoot and fans that are looking forward to having their own holiday.
Jay seemed to be spot on when he said you would need a kid to get into the place. And while Manny seems to be in a rush to grow up, kudos should go to him for admitting that he is getting accustomed to this lifestyle. Claire’s idea of helping out Haley was to set up a blind date at the park. It was awkward in part to have a total stranger with you for the first time and with your family. But Claire wanted to break the ice and she is known to be a person that takes risks.
She already has an idea of the kind of person she wants for Haley. By her standards, the person should be like Phil but it was surprising that Dylan came out of nowhere to come into contention.
As for Phil, Luke got sick on his very first ride in a roller-coaster. He had looking forward to the day he’ll come of age to ride with him but the result was disappointing. It turned out that Phil caught something at the office and was not sick because of the ride. Jay had a moment when he talked about the robotic show and the reason why he loved it. It is good that he has come to realize what should matter. He usually is not the talkative time when it comes to his feelings. It was an interesting episode.
